The Amateur-Radio group organizes several activities for the scouts. This contains "walk-in" as well as "ticket" activities. In this announcement we focus on Packet-Radio. Our PacketRadio equipment is situated in the Radio-Shack tent on-site. The node PA6WSJ-9 is connected to the amateur network via PI8WFL. An overview of our activities: 1. processing personal addressed mail for scouting groups 2. connected to amateur "Chat-Box" 3. receiving PA6WSJ mail and SCOUTS bulletins 4. other NOTE: For people reading this message from a Internet newshost, the previous activities are accessible for radioamateurs only, or scouts accompanied by radioamateurs (similar restrictions during JOTA activities). 1. It is possible to send personal mail to your scout-troop. For a quick effective flow of this mail (message filtering), it must be written a bit different than "normal" mail to PA6WSJ. Please write "-PERSONAL MAIL-" on the subject line. The "address" of the troop, the subject and the message itself go in the message body. Example from FBB mailbox: SP PA6WSJ@PI8WFL.NLD.EU (send MSG to our address) -PERSONAL MAIL- (indicator for our filter) Name : Happy-scout (address) Group : Happy-scout-group (address) Country : Some-country (address) Subkamp : Serpens (No. 10) (address) Troup. No: 17 (address) Subject : Success from scouts at home (subject of the message) (Begin message) Hello all, have a nice time! () () All the home-staying scouts. (End message) 2. We are connected to the international amateur conference bridge, simply said: "Chat-Box". You can recognize our terminals by our callsign PA6WSJ. Scouts from many countries can type with these terminals to amateurs. This announcement is in English, but communicating in other languages is very welcome! (don't forget this jamboree houses scouts from approx. 120 different countries all over the world). A list of conference bridge commands can be obtained by connecting a "Chat-Box" node and typing "/HELP" for help. For more info, or the location of your nearest "Chat-Box", ask your local Packet-Radio guru. Check if the "Chat-Box" you connected is global (not local!). 3. Our FBB-BBS, which is connected to the am.network via our node, doesn't only accept the personal addressed mail for some groups (1). Both personal mail for PA6WSJ and the SCOUTS bulletins are accepted and can be read by the operators/scouts in our tent. 4. Beside these activities other are possible, depending on the time the operators have left. Scouts can also send (censored) mail via OM/(X)YL's to their troops at home. Don't forget to give your electronic address to your group, if you like to get mail during the Jamboree.... Scouts on-site active on the "Chat-Box" can be used to entertain a troop scouts at home (with the presence of a radioamateur of course), giving them a bit of that "Jamboree Feeling". Please contact us if you got some plans.... When you can reach our node with direct- or network-connect, chatting with a operator/scout is possible (PA6WSJ-12), but mail or chatbox is preferred.
