* = * = * = * == * = * = * = * * = * ANNOUNCING ExplorerNet * = * * = * = * = * == * = * = * = * ExplorerNet is an informal discussion group for Exploring and Venture units (and their individual members) worldwide who have a special interest in computing and information technology. There are no restrictions and everyone is welcome, though the group will be of primary interest to Exploring-age and Venture Scout-age young people and their advisers/leaders. Our purpose is to share our computing expertise with one another and to exchange ideas, meeting activities, interesting discoveries on the Internet, computing tips and advice. And, of course, to make new friends and bring the Global Village of virtual Exploring and Venture Scouting a little closer together. ExplorerNet will be of interest if you, or your post or unit has a specialty in computing and information technology. Also, if you are looking for computing related activities for a troop or pack meeting. * HOW TO JOIN ExplorerNet * The discussion group operates via Internet electronic mail. You simply send your message to the ExplorerNet mail reflector address and it will be rebroadcast automatically to all other members of the group. To send email to ExplorerNet members, simply address your email to: explorer-net@erd.rl.af.mil To have your email address added to the group discussion list (and, to request address changes or deletions), send your request to: explorer-net-request@erd.rl.af.mil stating your desire (add, change, delete). Note that the list maintainer is a human being (and a volunteer) so it may take a few days for your address to be activated. Be patient. * WE NEED YOUR HELP * First, ExplorerNet is new and the initial group is still small (though it's growing fast). Already represented on ExplorerNet are Exploring and Venture units from Australia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Russia and the US. Posts sponsored by AT&T, FermiLab, IBM, Eli Lilly, NeXT Computer, the U.S. Air Force Electronics Reliability Laboratory (these folks do some really neat things, ask them about it) and others. But, we know there are many more folks out there who would like to know about ExplorerNet. We need help to spread the word. And here, you can do a good deed for us as we must rely on the good graces of brothers and sisters in the virtual Scouting community to spread the news. Cross post a copy of this announcement to any electronic Scouting forum where folks visit who may be interested in joining ExplorerNet. And, if we can do you a good deed in return, please let us know. * MORE INFORMATION * For information or questions about ExplorerNet, please send email to "gwicklin@ball.com".
