To all those interested in attending a Foreign Jamboree, there will be one held in Australia in the summer of 1994/95, "Jamboree of Far Horizons". Australians are renowned for their hospitality, and it should prove a good event to attend. The Jamboree venue is Perry Lakes Reserve, Perth, Western Australia. Perry Lakes was built for the 1962 Commonwealth Games and it also hosted the 1979-80 12th Australian Jamboree during Perth's 150th anniversary celebrations. The venue is the best in the world. Perth City is just a few minutes away by car or bus, and some of Australia's best beaches are even closer. The summer average temperature is 30 degrees centigrade. Jamboree activities will use the Perry Lakes facilities for all on-site and arena events. Off-site programs will be spread over a wide area, including local beaches, the Swan River, Jandakot Airport, Manjedal Scout Centre at Byford, and city discovery tours of Perth and Fremantle. Each sub-camp will set up a "Village Green" complex for their youth members. Facilities include a Fraternity marquee where minor repairs, writing materials, quiet and not so quiet games, and drinks will be available. A Chaplaincy adjacent to the Fraternity area will provide the necessary religious and counselling services. Adjacent to these areas is a Social Area. A comfortable shaded area with plenty of seating, background music and television - perfect for socialising and badge trading. An outdoor games area will provided equipment for mini-cricket, volleyball, and other medium activity games. The sub-camp trading post will provide soft drinks, nibbles, confectionery, toiletries, postcards and stamps. The main Jamboree Trading area will cater for all Banking, shopping and Administration services not catered for in the sub-camps. Eligibility for Scouts is more than 10.5 years and under 15 as of December 30, 1994. Minimum Scouting requirements are Pioneer level (or equivilant), 10 nights' camping experience - at least three consecutive. Qualifications for handicapped Scouts will be determined at local Branch level. All applicants MUST be in GOOD HEALTH.
